On one of our neighborhood groups, we've got a guy doing the endurance test on people who are wondering what sane person who is not a public union employee would vote for Amendment 1 on the Illinois ballot this fall. Every comment is characterized as "lies" and "false", with links to left-wing sites. I finally decided to just keep calling him out and he is now calling *me* a bully. I am fascinated.
Amendment 1 is about the most naked power grab I've ever seen. And remember that in IL you can only put 3 out of many amendments on the ballot. So pols "flood the ballot" with crap amendments to ensure that only the ones they approve of are on it.
I agree with you. Illinois is already in trouble as it was not permitted to change pensions for new hires by its Supreme Court. Chicago in particular (I believe) has pension payout problems.
Basically the entire state govt unions pension system is in trouble and the market crash is making it worse. When I retired a couple of years ago, I had a smallish amount (around 30K as I remember) in the State Teachers Retirement Fund, in a 403b. They 'changed' the system and I got it out, with some difficulty before they screwed me over. I had one full year teaching at SIU-C and some other time in various schools that amounted to 4.5 years. They wanted to move the money from 403b to a more 'regular' pension unless I noticed (in the 50 or pages of boilerplate crap they sent me) and declined the 'invitation'. Evil and crooked.

When SCTV began showing up on Channel 11 in St Louis I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. They showed a lot of cheap movies, too, and I learned to love a lot of the, Especially "Evil Roy Slade". When we finally got a video machine my whole family copied Evil Roay, ads and all and everyone got a copy. Probably a dozen or so. Now I have it on DVD.

Appallingly, our *President* just claimed he lost Beau in Iraq when he actually died 7 years later from brain cancer. He was a lawyer. This senile bot should be removed and would be by his own Cabinet but for 1) Kamala and 2) his ineffectual Leftist Cabinet wants to retain power. I lost $50 betting he wouldn't make it six months.
I watched the Tyler Kistner-Angie Craig debate last night; he did well, but some other Republicans mopped up the floor with their opponents. The Dems have been avoiding debates at all cost; watching, you see why. Our governor in MN claims he hasn't ditched them because he never accepted any of them. Others who did well include the MI governor debate and AZ Senate Debate. The Dems have precious little to run on except abortion.
You have to remember that for all he can remember Biden did 'lose' Beau in Iraq. I can just picture him in Baghdad going, "Beau. Beau? Are you here? Where are you Beau?"
He now has anger/rage of flat effect, mostly. Infrequently the fake-smile "Joe from Scranton" pops his head out of whatever hole he's been relegated to. But it seems to me more and more flat effect. Drugs or dementia? Both?
