Jim are those changes due to writing and posting from an aircraft orbiting outside the territorial waters of the USA? "Cause that didn't help that poor, innocent Chinese weather balloon.

Treach must have gotten a job at Daily Wire for a fraction of the money they were going to pay Stephen Crowder. Still, though that would be a great value add!

You'd think that if absolving borrowers of their loans was something as popular as the Dems claim it is, they could have passed a law or something over the last two years. If it was really that popular, make the GOP filibuster it or something, but do it the right way. What a bunch of babies.

It's because they don't like the process, they want to have a king/monarch/dictator that can do whatever they want (until said leader is a Republican, of course) without the silly checks and balances. That's why they don't like the Supreme Court, either.

Happy OFFICIAL first day of spring, per the National Weather Service. That whole solstice/equinox bullshit never made any sense: June 21 is MID-summer's Day, not FIRST-summer's day.

Anyway.

I'm confused. The people of Chicago are racist and sexist because they wouldn't vote for Lori Lightfoot. What race and gender was she when she was elected four years ago?

I know: shut up, bigot.

Minority Hakeem Jeffries just wants SCOTUS to "just follow the law" on student loan forgiveness, even though Executive Orders aren't law.

"Follow the law" is the new "Follow the Science"; it only matters what they say the rules are.

The CCP doesn't just own the American Press - they own the WH - the more the merrier!

If an actual klansman was running chicago these last four years, there is no way he would do worse for the black residents than Lori Lightfoot. No way. No way in hiz-ell.

Given the taxes Johnson wants to impose, we may see a huge surge in "the money" (business, middle and upper middle, and lower upper classes, financial corps, etc) leaving Chicago. The minute he wins, as he probably will, those who understand the situation will begin pulling up stakes. By the time his first term ends, it may have lost the top 20% or so of tax producers. He'll be bailed out at least once by the State govt. Then we'll see how willing the citizens of Illinois to continue to out up with this.

I had a small pension benefit from teaching in Illinois, and I pulled all of it out immediately as I was eligible. Just saying.

At that point, Chicago with be left with two types of citizens: the affluent elite, who can afford guards and private security, and whom 'donate' to the ruling class and seek carve outs and protections. They recognize the racket, and they can profit from it.

The other class: everyone else, mostly the working poor and the destitute who have no choice. They will live quiet lives of constant victimization from the predators (both from The State, and from street gangs)

Wait, so Chicago is going to become San Francisco?

San Francisco without the views, and much colder.

See above. More like Detroit with a better Lake. And a more "diverse" population. Even now middle class Blacks and Hispanics are leaving for the more nearby suburbs. Lansing, IL where my wife's family moved from "the East Side" and the steel mills and such, basically began growing in 1960 with a population of 17,000 almost 100% white. Quite a few Midwest bungalows, but more ranch and multi-level homes. By 1980 it topped out at just under 30,000, still mostly white. By 1990 it began attracting non-White middle-class residents. By 2010 it was 1/3 Black. In 2020 it became 46% Black, 20% Hispanic, and 30% white.

SF is very unlikely to become majority Black, ever. Chicago residents are moving and self-segregating into race-majority suburbs. This is sure to have some effect, but I'm not smart enough to see it.

But it's hard to see any path for Chicago than that of Detroit. I watched Detroit up close, and it's worse in its own way that SF will ever become.

SF's Black population is shrinking as they move to suburbs whenever they can - places like Pittsburg and Antioch across the Bay, The minority population that is growing in San Francisco is Latino, from Mexico and Central America. There is still a large Asian population, but nowadays Asian immigrants have better options than San Francisco.

However the same exodus of the below-top-tier top earners has happened there, and the trend is toward a city composed of the very rich like Marc Benioff and the working (and non-working) poor. It's fascinating to see the less affluent, heavily immigrant population of the Mission District finally up in arms for being used as the City's dumping ground for the homeless, among other forms of civic neglect and abuse.

that's the same situation, basically, in every dying US city, so far as I know. Check out any of the big early 20th century manufacturing cities. As the "burden" of living in the cities (taxes, worse services, worse roads, etc) grow to the point where they have noticeable effect on the upper-middle class especially. the exodus begins. Eventually unless such problems are 'fixed' they exodus extends to everyone except those wealthy enough to not feel the effects (because the burden on them remains low in comparison to what they gain from remaining) and those without the resources to move (including money, intelligence, awareness, attitude, whatever) and those who prey on those who 'can't' move.

Baltimore is a great example of how this works and how the predators remain as long as there are even minimal resources to be taken,

It's sad and I expect it to never end because the people who could end it won't so long as they benefit. It will probably take an entire system crash to change any of it.

And that may be coming. A reasonable civil war might possible make the change for one side.

No. See my comment. Chicago might WISH it would only become as bad as SF.

It will become a less Black Detroit. Another city in a wonderful geographical reduced to a hollowed-out shell. There will still be some marrow in the bones, though, so the vultures and hyenas will remain reasonably well-fed for a while longer.

Politicians who blame their re-election losses on their race, gender, or sexual orientation really need to explain how they won election in the first place despite those same factors. The one thing that the voters learned about them between their election wins and their re-election losses is how they performed the duties of their offices.

Speaking for myself, I can unequivocally say that we are here for you. Hope it's all to your good and to the good of you continuing to write.

After all, you can't get sentences like - "They made us google “pangolins” rather than admit one of America’s enemies might’ve screwed up." - just ANYWHERE.
