This week, Stacey Abrams made history: For the first time ever, she actually contributed something useful to society.
Until now, Abrams’ main claim to fame was refusing to admit she lost the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race. She’s gotten a lot of mileage out of that from her fellow Democrats, who hold her up as a martyr and therefore a hero. Now she’s running for governor again, which in her mind is actually a reelection bid.
That was going fine until this happened:
With one indelible image, Stacey Abrams has encapsulated the frustrations of parents across the country. Here’s an obese 48-year-old woman sitting maskless while surrounded by masked children. Abrams is at much higher risk of COVID than those kids are, yet the rules don’t seem to apply to her. She wants to condemn these tykes to a future full of masked faces, even while her ego won’t allow her to cover her own.
The people deserve to see her lovely, genuine smile.
So what did Abrams do next? She called you a racist for noticing her hypocrisy, that’s what she did next:
Statement from the Abrams campaign
It is shameful that our opponents are using a Black History Month reading event for Georgia children as the impetus for a false political attack, and it is pitiful and predictable that our opponents continue to look for opportunities to distract from their failed records when it comes to protecting public health during the pandemic. One of Stacy's opponents downplayed the virus while trading stock to profit off the pandemic after his private coronavirus briefings as a Senator. Another of her opponents attacked mayors seeking to protect their citizens and has failed to expand access to Medicaid even as rural hospitals close. This pathetic, transparent and silly attack is beneath anyone who claims he wants to lead Georgia.
Woooo! Yaaas kween! Clap back! Spill the tea! Put ‘em on read! (Is that how you use that last one? Sorry, I’m old.)1
Anyhow, that tough talk from the Abrams campaign was on Sunday afternoon. Then they spent the next couple of days making excuses: She only took off her mask for a second, she’s vaccinated, the kids wouldn’t be able to hear her with a mask on, etc. And of course, anybody who has questions is just a racist and a Trump bootlicker.
Then this happened yesterday:
Yeah, it looks like Abrams spent a lot more than a few seconds unmasked in a room full of people wearing masks. People who are at much lower risk than she is.
Later that same day, Abrams did some damage control with one of the CNN anchors who hasn’t been fired yet. Because at CNN, the purpose of journalism is to help Democrats in trouble:
That’s quite a change in tone, isn’t it? In a little over 48 hours, Abrams went from “It’s racist to notice my blunders, you racists” to “Protocols matter and I apologize.”
I have no problem with a politician apologizing for making a mistake, even if it’s only because she’s backed into a corner and can’t fight her way out. But it would’ve been nice to hear this before she called me a racist for criticizing her.
As Stephen “Not the Trump Guy” Miller noted on his excellent Versus Media podcast,2 the point isn’t that Abrams should wear a mask. The point is that she wants everybody else to wear masks, whether they do any good or not.3 She simply does not believe those rules apply to her.
That’s why I say Stacey Abrams has done a valuable service to society. With one photograph, she’s shown how clueless and arrogant our elites are, and how little they care about the lives of the people they claim to represent. That picture says a lot more than 1,000 words.
Some pundits are predicting this is the end of Abrams’ political career, but I wouldn’t bet on it. If the Dems can put Joe Biden in the White House, then nobody is beyond redemption in their eyes. People can rationalize anything, and the libs will rationalize this.
Stacey Abrams has proven that she doesn’t care about anything but her own aggrandizement, so I’m sure she’ll bounce back.
No pun intended.
This is pretty funny too:
I’m not a political genius like Justin Trudeau, the mayor of Canada, but it seems like a bad idea to alienate the people we rely on to transport stuff from one place to another. Isn’t that how supply chains work? Isn’t that how the economy keeps going? Doesn’t Trudeau need those truckers a lot more than they need him?
And aren’t liberals supposed to care about working people? I’m almost positive I remember some of them making that claim. Well, forget it:
Speaking of Canada, which I rarely do, I’ve been getting a kick out of Toronto’s Globe and Mail newspaper recently. Last week they dropped this gem:
“Non-violent dangers.” That’s right up there in the annals of liberal doublethink alongside “Fake but accurate” and “Fiery but mostly peaceful.”
And now those adorable scamps have given us yet another classic oxymoron:
“Weaponized freedom.” Look out, the freedom has now been weaponized! This isn’t regular freedom, it’s highly dangerous freedom!
WARNING: CONTENTS MAY CONTAIN FREEDOM
Canucks, man. I’m joining the growing chorus demanding we invade that miserable frozen hell and make it our 51st state. Put another star on the flag!
🤷🏻♂️
Hey, Hollywood is doing the Oscars again. Good for them, glad they’re keeping busy.
Racism is bad. Also, all people with a certain skin color are bad.
That seems to be the message of this upcoming documentary series on Showtime:
Everything’s Gonna Be All White. Get it? Because it rhymes.
Let’s see how this sounds when we change just one word:
“I think what annoys me most about black people is when they pretend like they’re the victim. [SOBS COMICALLY] What’s also annoying is when they kill us.”
Just imagine some marginal white comedian saying that. It would be racist as hell, right? She’d be cancelled immediately. But it’s not racist to blame millions of people for the actions of anybody who superficially resembles them, as long as their skin is lighter than a certain shade.
I’ve never killed anybody, and I refuse to be scolded for things I’ve never done. But then, I’m not the target audience for this crap. It’s designed to confirm the biases of racists who insist they can’t be racists because white people are evil.
Wednesday again? Seriously? Wow, we really are out of ideas as a society.
Thanks for reading my daily newsletter. If you’re reading it for free, please start paying me so I can keep doing this. It’s only $5/month or $50/year, and right now it’s my only source of income. I’m not throwing a bunch of bothersome ads at you or selling off your personal information, and here’s how you can show your appreciation.
I don’t listen to a lot of podcasts because I don’t have a commute, and my attention span has been decimated by decades of exposure to the Internet. But I really like Miller’s podcast. The guys from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have been doing a podcast, and so far it’s funnier than the latest season of the show. If you’ve got a favorite podcast that you think I’d like, let me know in the comments. I probably won’t listen to it, but I’ll be able to say, “I hear this one’s good.” Y’know, if anybody asks me for podcast recommendations. Which they won’t. But still.
Really enjoy, but haven't finished: Mission To Zyxx

I can't keep up with all my podcasts. Or newsletters. But I read yours every day. Only so I can see you compliment me for my decision-making skills at the end.
I take my wins where I can get them.
What annoys me to no end is that all of the D's are flip-flopping now on masks and COVID, and they're claiming victory because of the "leadership of Joe Biden" as the reason, or that "the science changed." No, the science didn't change, the politics did. But as long as they have the mainstream media behind them, they will continue to push narratives that get those who aren't paying attention to pull that lever for the Democratic candidate. Victory isn't guaranteed for the GOP in February 2022. It's way too early. If prices go down and the supply chain gets stabilized by the summer, people will likely forget the last year and a half of hell. Anyone running against a D will either get tagged as a "racist" or they'll try to claim that they're a friend of Trump.
