So. . . has anyone considered that all this. . the article and the comments defending Martin Short . . .is merely BS? It has appeared to me to be a tactic for "clicks" and attention. Write something completely absurd. . then watch the engagement! Make $$, oh, and provide a platform for my "friends" to chime in and provide their unique perspectives and analysis as though it means something. . oy vey these things are tiresome. Tiresome to see, tiresome to read, and causes me to get a headache from rolling my eyes so much ~
Good grief, if there is anything the left despises it is for someone to stray from their hive-mind opinion. I'm surprised none of those other comedians pulled the "expert" card and condescendingly explained to us why no one is qualified to decide on their own what they find funny.
I can't believe I haven't watched Hancock. It is now at the top of the queue! Worth the price of the subscription.
I don't need a lot of content, I need good content. You provide good content and so I will keep subscribing. Just keep doing what you're doing - the volume is fine.
PS - I don't watch TV in general, so I don't see your other stuff. Throw in some of your good ones from there in clips!
On the debt thing - it took us 10 years to be debt free after a devastating illness. Ten years sounds like forever but it was personal and corporate expenses. We paid every cent. The key was that we never lived big. We actually have a nest egg now.
When you don’t spend stupid you get there faster than you think.
I wish you only black ink days ahead.
By the time Martin Short came along I was burned out on SNL. I grew up with the original cast. Never paid attention to him but totally agree with your take on the article.
Yes, after my own difficulties, I remarried and we both went to grad school, living cheap (as in under the poverty line for several years), then the medical bills for misdiagnosed pancreatitis (congenital, she neither drank nor did drugs) and the resulting and accumulating bills, and it took graduation, getting 2 professional jobs, and about 10 years to get back to even. We lived very cheap for just about 15 years. But we made it. Sometimes 5-6 jobs between the 2 of us.
It takes a plan and the will power to follow it. And a smidge of good luck doesn't hurt.
Thank to Jiminy Glick, I now can't pass down the vitamin aisle without "Ging-koo Bill-ooo-ba" running through my head. If I don't actually say it aloud.
The only two Martin Short movies I like are "Three Amigos" and "Innerspace", but mostly because he works so well off of everyone else. Stuff where he is just like a normal guy, like "Captain Ron" I'd rather just see Charles Grodin in a role like that.
I want to thank you for sharing music. Most of it isn't anything I would every listen to, but you have proven that your thoughts on music are worth giving a whirl. Don't quit throwing those bon mots to us!
Hang in there, Jim. I'm glad to support you, I think of it as my own little way of Sticking It to the Man. Also happy for you, that you got a big gig. Even better, you are focused on getting out of debt---getting completely out of debt and saving bunches of money is a life-changing strategy, for sure.
As for Martin Short, he is great AND I find him personally exhausting, but then again, Theater Kids always did get on my nerves.
You're one of the family now. And my Italian heritage will never allow me to go against family.
Btw, one of Martin Short's funniest roles was in "The Big Picture" starring Kevin Bacon (1989). A semi-dark film with an instructive lesson.

I like it! Then take that famous photo of Stalin, where the Russians air-brushed out the young man who had been in the photo originally, and put Biden in as the young man....but then have the Official Biden-issued photo update as having air-brushed Stalin out, leaving just Biden.
Let's see. I've never found Short all that funny. Maybe because most of his bits seem to be about 3-4 times too long.
I've never seen Hancock, but maybe I'll give it a shot.
I don't care much one way or the other about McCartney's Xmas song, but like all but the religious-type Xmas songs it gets played so many times during "the season" I eventually want to hurl when I hear it.
The Stones were/are easily my all-time favorite band, but nothing they have written since 1985 or so has grabbed me the way the earlier stuff did. Maybe that's on me.
I've been very deeply in debt (and bankrupt once) but have been essentially debt free for 15 years. It feels good. I hope you get there soon. I'm staying.

Everyone is pulling for Treacher.

I've stuck with you, even though you continue to be wrong about "Wonderful Christmastime." Makes George's "Ding Dong" sound like Bach.

Haha - that would be a terrific one.

I must say, I've never been a big fan of Martin Short, but I didn't much like Hancock, either. Of course, I like rope burns, so...
