“The dangers of unchecked speech"

Oh really?

The fact of the matter is that speech in South Africa during the days of apartheid was very, very, VERY controlled. You could not, ever, say anything that would go against the ruling party. So, this is not only a lie, but a dangerous lie in that it gets the facts wrong.

But, that's the point isn't it? Facts, disinformation, lying... it's all fungible, all for the use of the Ruling Cabal of Corporate Dolts and Stooges.

But what the hell do I know? I'm just your garden variety mallard who hops on the bike now and then. By the way, the Giro D'Italia started today. The Giro, the national tour of Italy, is a three week race, a grand tour just like the Tour de France and the Vuelta Espana. The only American to ever win the race was Andy Hampsten in 1988. Don't look for an American winner any time soon, we only sent three guys this year, none have a chance.

Everyone knows that the problem in apartheid South Africa was too much free-speech.

"Elon Musk grew up in a South Africa that saw the dangers of unchecked speech: Apartheid govt propaganda fueled violence against Black people."

As the duck says, when only the government gets to speak by issuing propaganda, the problem is that opposing speech is not just checked but fully silenced.

Apparently the Progressive view is that their ideal world can only come to be if speech that disagrees with them is checked out of existence.
