Being a lifelong Baltimoron, I loved WGN because I could watch NL* games and teams I'd never see prior to inter-league.
* I still hate the DH (coming soon to a National League near you!) and wish pitchers had to stand in the box a couple times a game to remind them of what Chin Music is like. Plus bunts, hit (behind the runner) and run, and the double switch. *makes Old Man noise*
Plus, as a Cardinals fan for over 65 years, I got to see Albert Pujols in an amazing retirement year in the Cards uniform. I'm loving that part. If he had played every game as DH and gotten 500 plate appearance, and hit the way he has in 350 PA or so, he would rank among the top MVP candidates at age 42. He's still The Machine.
I still prefer no DH, but I wanted the same rules for both leagues. and the DH has extended the careers of some very good players plus added some to fan enthusiasm.
Up until 2010 or so I taught a course in ARIMA modeling. That is Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average causal modeling of change over time (like in say, military budgeting or such). Using it you can 'test' if a change in 'policy' resulted in a change of the normalized data over time, and when the change occurred if one happened.
To teach the course I used 3 data sets. One was violent crime (per 100,000) in Chicago before and after the Felony X law was passed. It was supposed to reduce those crimes through greater punishment. The others were lowering the pitching mound after Bob Gibson's 1968 season, and the DH rule. Both were supposed to increase the number of runs scored so games wouldn't be so "boring".
In the first instance, I used 30 years of monthly data from Chicago records. For the latter 2 I used data from 1946 through whatever the latest year was.
I'll leave out the results except to say that Felony X had no observable (in normalized, seasonally adjusted data).
For lowering the mound, the effect was immediate. It hit the year it was changed and had a permanent, lasting effect of somewhat more than .5 runs per game.
For the DH rule, it had no effect on the number of runs scored. (Nor on batting averages.) But it did have have a a continuing effect on the number of homers hit of about .5 home runs per game. So same number of runs (plus mound effect) but "more exciting" runs maybe for "average" fans. All the DH did was change the way runs were scored, not how many.
I saw it. They demonitized it as it wasn't "for every advertiser". I think Taibbi got it restored. Amazing how the censorship always goes in the same direction!
I can't tell what your presidential candidate is saying. Something about gas in Arcadia? And Taylor Not-So-Swift can dox away; I doubt there will be any fucks given. Oh, sorry, ma'am.
(WGN RIP. I grew up with Ned Locke, Frazier Thomas and Jack Brickhouse. How sad to see what it's become.)
I'll laugh my butt off if Abrams manages to drag Warnock down with her. And it could happen. There may be many voters who won't vote for Kemp but can't bring themselves to vote for Abrams and therefore stay home.
The truly funny part of "Joe Biden's Big Adventure in Puerto Rico" is watching "That's DOCTOR Jill Biden, buddy" expressions each time he screws something up. It's getting harder and harder to miss. I wonder if, at this point, she abusing him, physically or emotionally, when they are 'alone' together.
And, why? She can't possibly love this man ("We're going to need a bigger boat!") but why can't she just to go up Acting Prez Klain-Rice and say "Joe's putting in his two weeks notice."
She's not exactly Edith Wilson (probably not near as intelligent), but she is ambitious and loves her 'rank'. She's probably smart enough to know that when Joe leaves office by whatever way no one of any political or social significance will ever pay attention to her again. Without Joe's offices DOCTOR Jill would be a cipher.
That, or he just looks at the banner in whatever room he's in, notes the sponsoring group's name, and announces how his roots with that group go back to his parents' kitchen table. Puerto Ricans, Abbysinians, quantum physicists....
(True story: my Dad was a high school biology teacher and subscribed to Science and Scientific American, so these were often available as bathroom reading. My parents went to a cocktail party in Berkeley and people were discussing their (liberal arts) degrees. They asked my Mom what her degree was in, so she mentioned molecular biology. She was able to give a pretty good accounting of herself and impress these well-educated folks. Of course, my Mom had only a high school diploma - but she has excellent recall of what she reads, so she just whipped up a story from some articles she read.)
I bounced through a couple minutes of "Cuomo". It's his typical bullshit self-back-patting and moral preening about how he is, apparently, one of the major hinges on which the world turns.
Mostly it is Fredo with a better accent.
I did watch a bit of the part where he says that instead of student we should be looking at college costs. You know, like all Lefties have cared about that so far. But the funniest part was where he hoped his three kids (how old are they, anyway) could go to college. We, maybe they inherited his intellectual capacities, but I doubt they won't be able to go due to a lack of money or pull.
Sadly, the mutilation of children by hospitals and the parents who go along with this fad will continue until the majority of detransitioning survivors begin creating massive amounts of litigation against the doctors, therapists, hospitals, and parents that allow this permanent destruction to proceed. Once hospitals figure out that the 13 year old who can't legally agree to a permanent mutilation could change their mind in 5 years and sue them till it hurts, they won't touch children in this way with a 10 foot pole. Until then, good and reasonable people should do everything they can to show the public what is happening.
Hey, I grew UP with WGN! Jack Brickhouse and daytime baseball, Bozo and Garfield Goose! "Tank" Abrams is going to fall so hard, Atlanta will shake. I'm agog at this lying weasel and "election denier".
Of COURSE Biden was raised by Puerto Ricans! Right before getting arrested to see Mandela! But after his truck-driving days as Big Rig Biden.
I can't wait for the Trans "fad" to vanish and people mind-numbingly wonder what they did in mutilating children. This video is 3:30 long, for your viewing pleasure, because everybody lets their kids make life-changing decisions, right?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ5_4c_eg0M&t=20s
And gruesome Newsom just signed a law to permit CA to lure your child there for sex-change surgery:
I swear to god, it must be pretty nice to be a Leftist/Liberal Democrat politician.
Must. Be. Nice.
You will never be held accountable for a single thing you say. You have zero convictions and standards, because they're gonna change anyway, depending on the circumstances of the day! Like I said, it must be nice to only care about one thing: furthering the political power of your party. Everything is subservient to that goal.
Billy Eichner is a sassy bitch, and being a sassy bitch plays very well in the circles he runs in within Hollywood. Billy is finding out that being a silly, sassy bitch does not play as well in the real world. He's finding this out in the cold, hard way that people tend to find out these things when they escape their insular echo chamber. I, for one, am glad that Billy (who, I must remind you is a sassy bitch) is getting this reality check, that he is finding out that Hollywood is not the real world. Will he learn this lesson? Will he be chastened, and thus look inward and see his errors? Will he learn that (as Edmund Burke said) "example is the school of mankind, and we will learn at no other" or will he go back to being a sassy bitch for all the other sassy bitches in Sassy Bitch World, also known as Hollywood?
My money is on him continuing his sassy bitch role, but this time even sassier and even bitchier because that is what Hollywood reinforces. And if I write "sassy bitch" even one more time in my life, it will be too many.

Well, he was never very witty or likable, so it wouldn't take much to stand-in for him. But she is showing signs of getting fed up, I think.
I would pay a reasonable amount to see that. And it should easily be worth more than a gay rom-com from an angry, irritating A-hole.
Her face is priceless.

Scranton, PA, demographics: https://www.geostat.org/data/scranton-pa/nationality
3.9 percent Puerto Rican. Just behind the 6 percent Welsh, just ahead of the 3.1 percent Russian.
What, is he going to claim he was baptized in borscht next?

recent census, or 1950-1960-ish when Scranton Joe would have been part of that community?
Current data... do you think Scranton was LESS ethnically white European in 1960?
LMAOOOOOOO!

Just as non-self-reflective as ever.

Not just the hospitals. Sue doctors, admins, staff, everyone who in any way facilitated the mutilation. Make the rubble bounce.
Biden: "I was sort of raised in the Puerto Rican community at home politically."
"I like to be in America! Okay by me in America!"
So you're a Shark? Funny as hell...

I'm sure he paid himself well as director. And maybe it'll be a "cult classic" forever. LMAO.
