A little less than four years ago, we saw this argument about immigration between Trump spokesman Stephen Miller and CNN’s Jim Acosta:
Acosta knows who Emma Lazarus was, so of course that means we should let everybody into this country, whether they come here legally or not. That was the media’s line throughout the entire Trump administration.
Well, forget about all that, because now the Democrats are back in power and they don’t actually care.
What happened to “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”? Why is the Biden administration so racist against these black and brown people who want to come to America? Ummmmm, we’re a nation of immigrants, you guys. Duh!
Are we now pretending this never happened?
Guess so.
Come to think of it, when is AOC going to comment on what’s going on in Cuba? I’d like to hear her theory about why all those people want to escape that socialist paradise. Why are they trying to escape to America, the country she finds so awful?
Well, if you care about immigration, you’ll have to wait for another Republican to get elected president. That’s the only time journalists and other Democrats pretend to give a damn about it.
Jim Geraghty at NRO has a real shocker: “Go Figure, China Isn’t Keeping Its Promises on Climate Change.” The libs kept telling us China was phasing out coal as an energy source, but guess what? The Chinese Communist Party lied! First time for everything, right?
Name three things the Biden family loves.
If you didn’t include “trains,” “money,” and “strippers,” you need to start paying closer attention to current events. And now those things are all in the same story, courtesy of the NY Post: “Probe launched into strip club ‘entertainment’ and gifts given to Amtrak staff.”
You could make a pretty good joke about strippers, and trains going in and out of tunnels, and things of that nature. You sicko.
They miss him so much. They don’t know what to do without him.
Remember those dumb Texas Democrats who flew to DC rather than participate in a vote they knew they were going to lose? Well, they could be in trouble with the law already. As Joseph Simonson at the Washington Free Beacon reports:
A publicity stunt could cost Texas Democrats up to $1.75 million after lawmakers went maskless on their privately chartered planes to Washington, D.C., violating Biden administration regulations on air travel.
You can be fined up to $35,000 for flying without a mask. Multiply that by 50 lawbreaking lawmakers and you’re starting to talk real money. That is, if federal law even applies to Democrats during a Democratic presidential administration. Guess we’ll see!
And if those on-the-lam legislators skate on that, they’re still in legal trouble back in Texas. The Texas House voted to send law enforcement after those Dems for shirking their duties, which the taxpayers elected them to perform. Those dumb Dems are safe as long as they’re in DC, but they have to go home eventually.1
Isn’t it interesting that the Dems are now on the side of the federal government against a state government? It was just the other way around, not too long ago. It’s weird how all their standards go away when they’re back in power.
To give credit where it’s due, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota actually showed a modicum of journalistic skepticism about this whole thing:
We’ve all heard that one, haven’t we?
At least they can carry a tune:
Keep up the good work, Texas Dems. This stuff is gold!
If you want to know why these Texas Dems think they can get away with this crap, just look at the leader of their party. Yesterday Joe Biden, a stupid and dishonest man, said a bunch of stupid and dishonest crap about “Republican anti-voting laws.” None of it was true, and Biden knows we know it’s not true. He’s just assuming Democrats either don’t know any better or are willing to spread his lies. And he’s right, or else they wouldn’t be Democrats.2
As David Harsanyi at NRO notes:
“Biden spent the first part of his talk bragging about how the United States had just conducted the cleanest election in history, grousing about efforts to undermine trust in our voting system. He then spent the rest of his time doing exactly that.”
All the Dems have left are these dumb stunts. It’s all designed to get a lot of likes and RTs on Twitter, but it’s no way to govern.
Keith Olbermann called me a Nazi the other day — I don’t remember why and it doesn’t matter — so I thought I’d check out his latest stentorian rant about stuff he clearly doesn’t understand.
Well, let’s look at what the document says, Keith: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”
So I can keep arms, but I can’t own them? How does that work, Keith?
Jordan Lancaster at the Daily Caller asks: “Does Anyone Have A More Embarrassing Political Career Than Eric Swalwell?” When you look at the evidence, it’s tough to find somebody more cringey than Swalwell: banging a Chinese spy, farting on live TV, his shirtless camel ride in Qatar, and of course his hilariously inept presidential run. Swalwell is embarrassingly dumb even for a California Democrat.
Yesterday we learned that four Iranian “intelligence officers” have been charged in Manhattan for plotting to kidnap an Iranian-born US journalist who has been critical of the Iranian regime. Here’s what our State Department has to say about it:
“This is a law enforcement matter.” Iranian agents plotted to kidnap an American citizen on American soil, and it’s a “law enforcement matter.”
Does her life matter?
One Last Loki Nerd Moment (For a While, Anyway)
You’re probably less of a nerd than I am and you haven’t watched the final episode of Loki yet, so I’ll put my ramblings about it in a footnote so as not to spoil it accidentally.3 Don’t read that footnote!
And Mr Inbetween, the best show on television, is over too. I won’t spoil that final episode either, except to say that it was ABSOLUTELY BLOODY PERFECT. Right to the very last frame. I can’t wait to see what Scott Ryan and Nash Edgerton do next.
Thanks for reading! Yesterday was my first subscribers-only post, and it was really good. What makes it even better is that non-subscribers can’t read it. Denied! Only the select few who are willing to drop $5 a month are invited. Maybe tomorrow will be subscribers-only too. Maybe it won’t. The only way to know you’ll be able to read me every day is to subscribe right now.
But hey, if you don’t want to be cool and sophisticated like we are, nobody’s making you subscribe. It’s your choice. As Judge Smails once said, the world needs ditch-diggers too.
If you’re one of the important people, you can leave a comment. A rare privilege, reserved for the elite.
And now that you’ve derived such pleasure and enlightenment from this newsletter, please share it with somebody who might like it. Or who doesn’t even know they’d like it if they tried it.
If you’ve signed up but you’re still not getting these e-mails, check your spam or promotions folder. Sometimes it ends up in there for some reason. I know I’m not spam, and it’s been decades since I got a promotion.
Or maybe they don’t! Do you think their fellow Texans would mind if they just stayed away?
If you’re a Democrat and it seems like I pick on your team too much: I’ll stop calling them liars when they stop lying.
Okay, so it was Kang the Conqueror all along, just like all the nerds were predicting. I’m not familiar with Jonathan Majors, and his IMDb page only lists him as He Who Remains. But Majors is also playing Kang in the third Ant-Man movie, so I guess that’s that. It was an odd performance, but I guess an eons-old multiversal tyrant who’s seen everything that’s ever happened would be a pretty weird dude. I have no idea what Kang’s death means, or how much of what he told them was true, or why Mobius suddenly doesn’t know who Loki is, or why that other cop lady had to go back to the high school where Renslayer worked at in 2018 before she was recruited, or basically any of that stuff. I also don’t know what Sylvie meant when she said, “I’m not you” to Loki. Did she mean they’re not actually the same person, just different versions of the same person, which is what we’ve been told already? Or did she mean she’s not a version of Loki at all? I kinda hope it’s the latter, or else their burgeoning romance is masturbatory even for comics. Well, once again the show took a turn I wasn’t expecting — I thought the TVA would be revealed as Loki’s own doing somehow — and I had no idea at any moment what was going to happen next. Yet it still managed to be vaguely unsatisfying. That’s the thing about comic-book universes: The story never really ends, because they always want you to come back for the next issue. At least they managed to transform the 2012 Loki from villain to antihero in six episodes instead of six years. I just hope season 2 has more Owen Wilson, because he’s the best guy.
Hey, Keith Olbermann may be onto something!
If the 2nd Amendment recognizes the right of all Americans to KEEP arms but doesn't say they have to OWN arms, then clearly the 2nd Amendment means the Federal government has to buy and furnish free guns to any American who wants one!
Thanks, Keith!
I realize this Olbermann schtick is the way he gets clicks, but wouldn't it be better if he used a little logic in his rants? The 1A doesn't say anything about "recording" either, and yet we 1A purists don't try to stop Keith from recording (although it is rare for me to listen to him). The 3A doesn't say anything about "owning" the home to keep the USG from quartering troops there, so renters beware! Truly, Olbermann has lost his mind.
