After watching the two music videos, it makes sense that these two are married. Kind of like when I learned about Gene Wilder and Gilder Radner getting married. I only knew of them through their work, but the marriage immediately made perfect sense.
I will confess a weakness for free samples at the grocery store. That really sucked when the free samples at Costco on the weekends stopped during the pandemic madness. But now it's back to free grazing!
The absolute worst thing about this latest Twitter drama is that only a week or two ago, Jack Dorsey was lamenting that the web wasn't like the one we all used 20 years ago - that it was heavily curated and full of gatekeepers telling you what media to consume. He's lamenting that with a straight face, like he was some sort of bystander powerless against the flow of inevitable forces and not a participant in the state of the current web. It's cool that Musk wants to try and do something now, but maybe it'd be more useful to build a time-phone and send a message back to the past instead, for all the good it'll do.
Hey, Jimbo, another excellent blast to my email. Thank you.
I just got back from the gym, and my back is sore. So, gonna sit here for a minute and have a cup of coffee and ask a question related to Twitter, Free Speech, Gatekeeping, Mis/Mal/Disinformation. to wit: Do you have the right to lie?
I firmly believe you do. I think there are very few places where you have a responsibility to tell the truth, when you are in court for example. I think at those times you need to be sworn in, of course. You *can* lie to a police officer, but that's a grey area because I think you can be charged with something. I'm not a lawyer, I'm a duck who rides the bike.
Otherwise, I think you do have the right to lie. We all do it, I don't think we *should* do it, because I think it is better to live a life where you endeavor to tell the truth. But if my lovely wife of 25 years asks me if these pants make her look fat, I have the responsibility to lie my ass off.
I also believe you the responsibility to lie to to the IRS. You are supposed to be doing your taxes lawfully and honestly, but I swear to sweet merciful Jeebus, I have lied on my taxes since the very first time I filed.
On Twitter people lie all the time. Sometimes it's disinformation, sometimes it's a profoundly held belief, like the elections were not stolen or that Lizzo is AMAZING! SLAY QUEEN! I lie on Twitter, but then again you have to remember... I am a Duck, and I ride a damn bicycle.
You are absolutely right, that we need the truth to counter the lie, and we do not need gatekeepers. The Journalist Caste desires to be the gatekeeper of truth, and they have no fealty to the truth to begin with, so we can not trust them.
I believe The Left has been at war with objective truth for some time now. We see it clearly in trying to convince us that men can be women, that you can be Health At Every Size, that children can understand the current sexual zeitgeist. In other words: Clown World.
Or if we smother free speech we end up with another Richard Jewell. A man who was trained to be a security guard and pay attention to his surroundings during the Atlanta Olympics. He learned well and saved lives. The good ole FBI destroyed that man’s soul and the press was their dog pack. Can you imagine anyone trying to defend him in the age of Twitter?
I didn’t get to the bottom of the column the first time I read it I was so pissed about the press and their hypocrisy.
Regarding your knee pain. I don’t normally comment on other people’s medical’s but I can really sympathize. My knees and hips keep me up at night. I stumbled on tart cherry extract. It doesn’t interfere with other meds and isn’t addictive. I can finally sleep more than two hours a time with out waking up because my knees are going to explode - even when a storm is on the way. I take twice what the bottle says. 1000 mg pills from a well known vitamin catalog and very affordable. They are famous for their buy 2 get 3 free offers.
I wouldn't worry too much about topical diclofenac. Most of those warnings are for the systemic form (oral). You should feel free to use it on your knee.
Hey Jim. Use the voltarol. I've used it for years and it's really works, It's been sold OTC in Europe for at least two decades. The dosage is easy. Just a dap like the hair products of your youth.

A love story for the ages.
"The Central Alaskan Yup’ik language has about 20,000 speakers. That’s bigger than the subscriber base of CNN+." For the win.

In college, that was my go-to lunch. Free samples, and a hot dog with a soda for $1.50
I make no apologies that I was a cheap bastard in college.
Just remove the words "in college" and that's me!

Lying is okay, but it is required that first you say “No shit, this is the God’s honest truth” and then you are covered!
Noted.

And when the movie came out, the journos called it sexist because the scumbag journo was a woman.

And, yes, I know that medicals should not have an apostrophe. It’s a plural not a possessive. Happy Trails.
Thanks for the Jack White suggestion. I be jamming!
Jim, in Katy Tur’s defense, her hard-core reporter/adventurer/combat vet father suddenly became a woman. That has *got* to mess you up a little bit!
First the ice floe crack, then the snide aside on Central Yupik. Culturally appropriate much, dude?
Just kidding. Loved it. Happy Easter, if that's your thing. Even if it's not, have a good weekend.

I am an ED doc
