I’ve always taken the Frank Drebin view of British royalty:
“For no matter how silly the idea of having a queen might be to us, as Americans, we must be gracious and considerate hosts.” And then a bunch of potty noises.
I’m glad America declared our independence from England (it happened a while back, Google it), and I’m only half-kidding when I praise Meghan Markle for infiltrating the royal family and tearing it apart from within. USA! USA! USA!!!
Nonetheless, Elizabeth II was a human being and she seemed like an interesting person, so this is sad news:
Ninety-six years, man. That’s a good run. As queen, she went from Winston Churchill to… whoever this new prime minister is, I don’t feel like looking it up. My whole life, England has had a queen. America keeps trying to replicate the royal family — JFK and Obama, notably — but she had more class than any of ‘em. R.I.P.
Meanwhile, the people most prone to screaming “YAAAAAS KWEEN” aren’t very fond of the actual queen:
What a thing to be proud of. Being really angry at Queen Elizabeth is just weird. She was the figurehead ruler of an all-but-dead empire. What did she ever do to anybody? But go ahead and hate who you wanna hate, I guess.
Like this dummy does:
The journos aren’t sending us their best.
The NYT also disgraced themselves:
Well, if Elizabeth wanted journalists and academics to praise her when she died, she should’ve announced she was non-binary and/or a member of ISIS.
Anyway, the new king is that dipstick Charles, huh? King Charles. Hey, it had to happen eventually. God save England!
Speaking of Wesley Lowery: That lamebrain wrote the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez cover story in the latest issue of Gentlemen’s Quarterly. A regular meeting of the minds. I don’t have an opinion on whatever stupid crap she babbled about, but I do have one question:
What in the world is “targeting diminishment”? And why didn’t young Wesley ask?
By the time I learn enough about a news story to realize I don’t care, it usually turns out to be caca del toro anyway:
Don’t expect any retractions or apologies from the “news” outlets that ran with this story and you won’t be disappointed. Not only did the journos learn nothing from Nick Sandmann, they’ve actually gotten worse. The facts used to be merely secondary, but now they’re an outright impediment to the narrative.
Journalists lie to you. They think it’s their job.
Joe Scarborough is the dumbest person on cable news, and that’s even including Don Lemon:
That’s right, Joe, Jesus loved killing babies. You blithering idiot.
He’s still not the least intelligent Joe in the world, though. We elected that one.
As Glenn Reynolds says, it’s always nice to make Twitchy:
They found the DNA of that Nevada Democrat at the crime scene, by the way. It’s too big of a story for the legacy media to ignore — Politician Murders Reporter — so they’re just burying the news that he’s a Democrat. Gotta protect the home team.
Oh boy.
Quantum Reap?
Just kidding! I don’t have anything against Koreans, and this new guy seems like he has the light touch required of the role. He’s no Scott Bakula, but who is? Er, besides Scott Bakula.
It’s been almost 30(!) years since Quantum Leap went off the air, and there’s never been anything else quite like it. Sort of an anthology show wrapped in a crazy sci-fi conceit. It was goofy as hell, but there was just something comforting about it. Something decent and good. If this sequel or reboot or sequelboot can bring back that feeling, I’ll be all over it like Al on a showgirl.
Plus, Ernie Hudson. That guy is immortal, man! Seriously, is he like a vampire or something? The dude does not age.
Alright, dear reader, that’s another week of my yammering. Be good this weekend, or at least be discreet.
Before you go, why not subscribe to this AD-FREE newsletter if you haven’t already? It’s only $5/month or $50/year. It’s never too late to stop being a damn freeloader.
All the hate to the late Queen. The thing is, they are conflating her with the worst of the former empire, which she had nothing to do with. Besides, aren't these people all about "decolonizing?" No one did more to decolonize than she did. She literally did nothing but decolonize for the majority of her reign. She's the "decolonizer" in chief. The top line item on her end of life resume is overseeing the slow and gradual decline of the former Empire. But, no. These Very Online Twitter users think QE2 and see Queen Victoria.
That AOC quote is so AOC. Using biggish words that don't really say anything. In her little head, I'm sure it made sense. Like you said, "Targeting Diminishment" means what? Also, don't bitch about your party doing you dirty, name some names sugar tits. Lets go!
I dunno, maybe just don't listen to this duck on a bike fella, since he's a certified ding-dong. Today is a tough day for this one, just finding it hard to hit the switch. But, some days you just gotta grind. Today, it's a grind.
People hate the Queen because they're idiots. Wait, I can say it better. They are all part of a "present-tense" culture, so they know nothing of the past, nor of virtues. The Queen was selfless, dedicated to serving her people, possessed of self-discipline and integrity. During the Blitz, the Royal Family stayed throughout. Then-Princess Elizabeth worked as a truck driver and mechanic for the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service.
The murder by a Democrat politician represents something larger: the notion that one is right whatever one does.
"Targeting diminishment" sounds like a bad weight-loss class. AOC actually said, "I can't even tell you if I'm going to be alive in September." If you call that living. She's like the Kardashians: famous for being famous. Or something.
The BYU "non-scandal" of Rachel Richardson--yet ANOTHER racial hoax!--deserves condemnation. It won't be coming either. Set it on the shelf alongside Sandmann and Smollett. Next to the NV Democrat Telles (D-Murderer). BTW, Telles was appointed to the State Board of Indigent Services by the Dem governor.
Have a good weekend.
