Speaking of Groundhog Day, another CNN executive hits the bricks this morning, coupled with a totally unbelievable cover story. We're supposed to believe that until now no one in the CNN building knew that unmarried Jeff Zucker was in a relationship with unmarried executive and - gasp - upon learning of such things he was immediately terminated. Uh huh. Okay. Sure. I don't know why exactly they fired him and I don't care, but I do appreciate CNN's unwavering commitment to BS and propaganda. Good fodder for tomorrow's newsletter. Keep up the good work.

I believe in free speech and people should be allowed to say obnoxious, abominable, or even simply wrong things and I so much would like to return to that America, because we did used to live in it. Currently, though, will live in a society where people like Ilya Shapiro are shown the door for stating correct things in a way that offends some, or Gina Carino makes dumb holocaust comparisons to covid (if you are going to compare something to the holocaust, do everyone a favor and don't) and she's dumped it seems like there is a very illiberal standard being applied capriciously to people on the conservative spectrum. The only way to get that to stop is to demand that this illiberal standard is applied to everyone - once the left is made to live by it's own rules, they'll change the rules (like with covid restrictions).

This seems to be the only real point of conflict for conservatives right now, whether to hold onto a principle to the detriment of our cause while the left abuses our good faith efforts - or to recognize that the principle can't exist in a vacuum and has to be a universal principle to have any meaning. At this point, even people like Ben Shapiro are coming around that so long as the other side treats "Free Speech" as a shield and cudgel when convenient and a liability when it isn't, there is no hope for free speech in that environment. Do I want Whoopi to get fired? No, it would change nothing in my life and wouldn't change whether or not I watch "The View". Should she be fired? Yeah, if that's the standard response for this is cancellation, make her abide by it or change the standard. But this half-way stuff just isn't going to cut it.

Uh. So Meta is letting people search for human traffic victims. Seeriously. You must be kidding. I am soooo glad I cancelled my facebook account. Took 2 months to do that too 😀

I assume all the HAHAHAing and LOLing about Zucker is because he was brought low by his dalliance with a person named go lust.

I wanted to purchase the comic book Thin Blue Line, but when I went to the website it stated that "contributing" is not "shopping" and there is no guarantee I would receive what they called a "perk". I want to support the artist/author, but it's $25 per book! And no guarantee you'll receive it?! Is this correct?!

I'm glad Zucker is gone as he's evil but, like Cuomo, it was entirely too long in coming.

Your Groundhog Day bit was funny.

I'm thinking of leaving FB over this. What are the alternatives? Happy Wednesday.

I wonder if Meta will let you search for a human smuggler to take you to a social media platform that doesn't suck?

You know who was a famous commander in American history?

George Armstrong Custer, who commanded the 7th Cavalry.

I suppose it is possible that someone at WarnerMedia realized that leaving a person with Zucker's poor workplace relationship hygiene was a contributing factor to so many other CNN staffers exhibiting poor judgment around sexual harassment and other sex-related issues.

"Okay, campers."

I've decided this should henceforth be known being "Cher-Rolled."
