It’s Friday. We’re all tired. Here are a few odds and ends, let’s not make a big deal out of it.1
I haven’t seen Israel much in the news lately, probably because they’re winning the war they didn’t start. Journalists, and their fellow Democrats, really don’t like it when the Jews succeed.
Antisemitism in America is in full flourish after the October 7 attack. Just look at this crap:
If a Muslim got kicked out of a Jewish deli anywhere in America, it would be national news. But a Jew getting kicked out of a Muslim cafe for wearing a Star of David? The journos don’t care. They don’t consider it antisemitism unless it’s wearing a MAGA hat.
Meanwhile, an illegal alien Muslim terrorist just shot a Jew in Chicago while screaming “Allahu Akbar,” and public schoolteachers in Los Angeles are openly plotting to turn kids against Israel without getting fired.
Democrats still can’t shut up about what happened in Charlottesville seven years ago, yet all the antisemitism in 2024 is coming from their side.
Hey, remember when Joe Biden said Trump supporters are garbage, and then the White House press office tried to save his ancient ass by changing it in the transcript to “supporter’s”? They thought the problem could be solved with an apostrophe.
Biden was like:
But then the people who are paid taxpayer money to clean up Biden’s mistakes were like:
But wait, it gets even better:
Yep. Not everybody in the White House is cool with lying about what the president said. Some of them still have a sense of integrity, even though the truth is only hurting the Democrats with just days to go before an election. What a pleasant surprise.
Apparently this cover-up was illegal, in addition to being unethical. It’s a good thing Joe isn’t a Republican, or it would be a scandal.
It’s 2024, and Democrats are defending a Cheney against a “chickenhawk” smear.
Remember when it was cool to fantasize about a Republican politician actively fighting in a war?
I don’t remember anybody crying about The Onion wanting to “assassinate” Bush.
That was then, this is now. If it weren’t for double standards, Democrats would have none at all.
To me, a presidential election is like a Super Bowl. If my team isn’t in it, I don’t really have an emotional investment in the outcome. Unless I particularly dislike one of the teams more than the other, in which case I don’t mind them losing.
Yes, yes, I know, this is the most important election in the history of elections. If I don’t vote for your preferred candidate, it will be the end of America. Oh no!
Every single election, we’re told America is just one ballot away from the apocalypse. But I’m not a vassal, and I don’t owe anybody my allegiance.
No matter who wins, we’re gonna be okay. America, I mean. We’ll figure it out. I believe in us, even if my moral, ethical, and intellectual betters don’t.
And now this is the part where you yell at me!
TGIF (Thirteen Giant Idols Fell), and thanks for reading. Just a few more days to go, guys.
I’m so tired, in fact, that the original headline said “Post-Election.”
I wish!
We don't hear much about Israel's war(s) becausem 1) They're obviously winning, 2) They're obviously winning easily (see, Russia and Ukraine), 3) The terrorists and Iran are being exposed for what they truly are, and 4) Traditional Media and Dems, to the extent that there's a difference, are being exposed as anti-Semitic in Nazi-like proportions.
I returned to college in my middle 40s and then spent almost a dozen years teaching in colleges and going to grad school, followed by anither 20+ years teaching in college. The was from 1986 or so to 2021 when I retired. I came from the business world. Even in the middle 80s I was astounded by the amount of only semi-covert antiSemitism I saw and encountered in Academia. This was despite a disproportionate number of Jewish students and professors.
I occasionally asked Jewish students I knew well (I had 4-5 Jewish student roommates over the years) and Jewish professors if it didn't bother them, and almost uniformly they just blew it off as not amounting to much.
What I saw got increasingly worse over those years, Even today, two close Jewish friends (one a non-practicing Marxist Jew and the other a very practicing Conservative Jew) apparently are willing to accept the anti-Semitism and continue voting for the Dems in general. It just blows my mind.
Honest to God, I think they would voluntarily get into the boxcar (with one including his gay son) and be hauled to a Hamas camp.
I truly don't understand it. I just don't.
At 1:28 in the Garbage video: is that guy using a hand-driven auger?! Way to go Old Skool!!
Every four years since 1968, I have been told that the Current Administration is the worst in American history. Which is quite a remarkable streak, I must say.
Speaking of streaks, how's your Wordle streak going?
