First things first: You guys keep bugging me to add a tip jar, so I added a tip jar. Here’s the tip jar:

Tip jar, right here

Thanks in advance for all the tips you’re about to put in this jar!

Right now, as you read this, the Chinese Communist Party is running concentration camps full of Uyghurs. If it seems like nobody in America really cares about the Uyghur genocide, this NBA owner just confirmed it:

“Nobody cares about what’s happening to the Uyghurs, okay? … I’m telling you a very hard ugly truth… Of all the things I care about, yes it is below my line.” —Chamath Palihapitiya (billionaire CEO of Social Capital & part owner of Golden State Warriors)

“Of all the things that I care about, it is below. My. Line.”

Well, that’s raising some hackles.1 The Golden State Warriors have responded to the uproar over Palihapitiya’s comments:

“As a limited investor who has no day-to-day operating functions with the Warriors, Mr. Palihapitiya does not speak on behalf of our franchise, and his views certainly don’t reflect those of our organization.”

Which views? They need to be more specific.

Basketball fans are scolded as racists every time they turn on an NBA game, but the systematic genocide of an entire ethnic group is beneath the NBA’s notice. China means money, and that’s what professional sports are all about.

I applaud Mr. Palihapitiya’s honesty. If you’re gonna be a piece of $#!+, just own it.
