So, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring, probably, and now Joe Biden gets to nominate someone to the court. Probably.
Okay. And?
Libs are still mad that Trump got to nominate three justices, and they want some sort of revenge. But whatever happens, this isn’t going to change the ideological makeup of the court. A liberal will be replaced with another liberal. Thomas and Alito are still relatively young, and Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.1 It’ll still be 5-4, if that’s what you care about.
If Biden nominates a black woman, which would be one of the few promises he’s ever kept in his life, she’ll be neither the first woman nor the first black person on the court. But she’ll be the first black woman, if all you care about is identity politics. Congratulations, I guess?
I really don’t think it’ll be Kamala Harris. It’s fun for libs to speculate about that, and it would solve the problem of convincing Americans to vote for her in 2028, or 2024, or whenever it ends up being. But that cackling disaster has failed up as far as she’s going to go.
(Then again, it’s Biden. Who knows what that addled old coot is gonna do? He’s spent nearly 50 years botching everything he touches, and nominating his own inept, unlikable VP — who he only picked in the first place because she’s a woman of color — wouldn’t break his streak.)
The way the Democrats have behaved for the last five years has been disgraceful. They threw everything they had at three solid jurists, and when that didn’t work, they just started making stuff up. (Gang rape? Really, guys?) They failed miserably, and now they’re getting a consolation prize.
Let them crow about their “victory.” Let them replace an activist liberal with another activist liberal. Let them pat themselves on the back for picking someone based on the color of their skin, not the content of their character.
Then just give ‘em one of these.
