The pundit Michael Kinsley once said, “A gaffe is when a politician tells the truth. Some obvious truth he isn’t supposed to say.” The phenomenon of a hack accidentally telling the truth has become known as a Kinsley gaffe.

Joe Biden is the biggest hack of his generation1, and he just gave us a Kinsley gaffe for the ages:

Major flub by Biden, who just moments ago talked about "the decision to abort a child." If it is a child, then the "decision to abort" is actually murder and thus illegal. Unsurprisingly, his handlers scurried him away from reporters immediately after he said this.

“The idea that we’re going to make the judgment that is going to say that no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child based on a decision by the Supreme Court…”

This is babbling gibberish that says nothing on its own, but what’s notable is that Biden accidentally used the word “child” to describe an aborted baby. Everybody at Planned Parenthood just cried out at once. You’re not supposed to humanize them!

Biden told the truth, inadvertently, at the worst possible moment for the political party he currently leads.
