Who the Heck Is Alex Padilla?
Also: Who cares?
The people who told you Joe Biden was fine are now telling you Alex Padilla is a victim.
Who’s Alex Padilla, you ask? Twenty-four hours ago, I couldn’t have picked him out of a lineup. Tomorrow, he’ll be forgotten. But for this very brief moment, he’s the United States senator known for this silly little stunt during a Kristi Noem press conference in Los Angeles:

Trump has been shot at twice in the past year. Riots are breaking out from coast to coast. Los Angeles is under curfew. Then some guy in street clothes barges into a DHS press conference in a federal building, tries to rush the podium yelling nonsense, and claims to be a senator while grappling with security.
This is the precise reason elected officials and their staffers have armed guards. They handled it perfectly.
“Don’t you know who I am?” Well… no.
Whatever happened to “no one is above the law”?
In response, the Democrat Party and their media arm have marched in lockstep, all repeating the same tired rhetoric about fascism and whatnot. Here’s just one example, from the dependably ludicrous Cory Booker:
The witless lying, the obvious coordination with his comrades, the dinner-theater-caliber acting... Perfect! 😙 👌
You know what would happen if you ran up to Booker while he was giving that speech? The same thing that happened to Padilla.
This is just communist agitation: Make a scene, provoke a response, and claim victimhood. And of course, you must make sure to get it all on camera. It’s the same thing the Dems are doing with these riots. They want you to believe that the law-enforcement response is worse than the original misbehavior. They want you to stop thinking and start chanting.
It’s dumb and it’s not working, but I can’t blame the Dems for trying. Their party is about as popular as pediatric cancer. CNN and MSNBC are putting up their worst ratings ever, and both of their parent companies have cut them loose. The news is full of rioting and looting in Democrat-controlled strongholds.
And, of course, Donald Trump continues to exist.
Their dreams have been dashed. Their backs are against the wall. So why not stage yet another dimwitted publicity stunt? Their pet journos will repeat their talking points, they can slap each other on the back for a while, and they’ll all sleep soundly at night because they’re sociopaths.
They’ve got nothing to lose but their dignity. Which they don’t have anyway, or they would’ve picked a different profession.
