Musician Uses A.I. to Generate Millions in Fraudulent Royalties
At least somebody's still making a living in music
Regular readers know I’m a Panicky Pete when it comes to A.I. I’m utterly convinced that one way or another, these machine intelligences are going to destroy our society.
Now I see A.I. wherever I go, and I’m probably getting paranoid. Just this week, both the cover of the latest issue of The Atlantic (yuck) and the promo art for season two of The Old Man on FX (yay!) look suspiciously computer-generated to me. I’m not saying they are, but they sure look like it.
I honestly can’t tell. It’s more of a feeling than anything I can really point to. It just feels artificial. I hope I’m wrong. But we’ve already seen A.I. being used in various underhanded ways in the entertainment industry, because they’d rather save a few dollars on skilled professionals than earn more money from the audience by putting out quality product that actually entertains us.
Not to mention all the “news” sites churning out A.I.-generated clickbait. It makes me sick. I can churn out my own clickbait, thank you!
So when I read the following story, it didn’t really surprise me. It only made me wonder why we haven’t seen this sort of thing until now…
