Libs Are Still Lying About Congressional Baseball Shooter James T. Hodgkinson
After all, what's their incentive to tell the truth?
Four years ago this week, a leftist lunatic named James T. Hodgkinson shot at a bunch of Republican lawmakers during their baseball practice in Alexandria, VA, almost killing House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. And ever since that day, our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters in the media have gone out of their way to erase Hodgkinson’s name from history.
That’s because he was one of their own, a Bernie Bro who vocally hated the GOP, and he went to that baseball field with the express purpose of killing as many Republicans as he could. As the Virginia Commonwealth’s Attorney concluded: “The evidence in this case establishes beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect, fueled by rage against Republican legislators, decided to commit an act of terrorism as that term is defined by the Code of Virginia.”
We know what Hodgkinson did and why he did it.
And now CNN contributor and noted fabulist Andrew McCabe is lying about it, because that’s his job.
This is, of course, nonsense. Just ask the man who was almost murdered by Hodgkinson:
This is CNN we’re talking about, so blatantly lying about an act of political violence is just a matter of course. The victims were Republicans, weren’t they? As far as anybody as CNN is concerned, those victims of violence don’t really count. They’re not actually human.
I’m old enough to remember the days before CNN stood for Certainly Not News. They can blame their declining ratings on Fox News if they want, but they’ve done this to themselves. There’s just no coming back from this sort of self-inflicted reputational damage. I don’t trust the Republicans any more than CNN does, but I trust CNN to tell the truth about the Republicans even less.
Speaking of politically motivated lies: “White supremacists are the most violent threat in America.” Uh-huh, right.
So, What Else Is Going On?
Kudos to the good folks at the Babylon Bee for standing up to those crummy jerks at the NYT. (Sorry about the language.)
A few months ago, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon told us about this:
The Bee did no such thing, of course. The only time you hear phrases like “under the guise of satire” is when a target of satire, or a defender of a target of satire, gets mad. The Bee is no more “far-right misinformation” than The Onion is “far-left misinformation.” It’s humor. You don’t have to like their jokes or think they’re funny, but your hurt feelings don’t change the facts. Nothing they do is intended to deceive anyone, and claiming as much is defamation.
Now the NYT has backed down:
Score one for the little guy! I love a good David vs. Goliath story, especially the part where David slings a smooth stone right into Goliath’s big dumb head. That book has some pretty cool fight scenes.
I’m willing to cut Chrissy Teigen some slack and assume that her recent apology for being a toxic @$$hole is legit, but I also enjoyed Tiana Lowe’s takedown of Teigen in the Washington Examiner:
“…Teigen, the #ClapbackQueen once feted by #GirlBoss feminists and Twitter stans, is over forever. The story of her rise and fall is a cultural success story of quashing celebrity bullies who punch down. It is also a cautionary tale of the Icarus of influencers, namely a glorified trophy wife who aimed too high for her station and got burned.”
Ouch!
This latest Teigen “news” motivated me to check out an episode of Chrissy’s Court, the Quibi show she did back before Quibi collapsed.1 It’s on the Roku Channel now, and it’s… kinda funny? Well, it’s amusing, at least. Either way, it’s only six minutes. That turns out to be the upper limit of Chrissy Teigen content I want to see and hear for the time being.
Donald Trump is going to the southern border of Texas at the end of the month. Will Kamala Harris now make a run for the border before he does? Will she finally give Greg Abbott a call? Even though I’m a cuck RINO traitor who probably wanted Hillary to win, I gotta admit Trump is an unparalleled troll. There’s just nobody better.
Are you a criminal who needs to launder large sums of money? Are you a foreign agent who wants to buy some influence? Has Hunter Biden got a deal for you!
If you’ve followed the news lately, you know there’s been an increase in street violence against Asian-Americans in Democrat-led cities. And if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve noticed that a lot of the time, the attackers are African-American. It’s never mentioned in the headlines, because the race of a criminal is only given when he or she is white. But then you look at the mugshot or surveillance footage, and it’s a black person assaulting an Asian person.
Or so you thought. But guess what? Your eyes are wrong!
While news reports and social media have perpetuated the idea that anti-Asian violence is committed mostly by people of color, a new analysis shows the majority of attackers are white.
Janelle Wong, a professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, released analysis last week that drew on previously published studies on anti-Asian bias. She found official crime statistics and other studies revealed more than three-quarters of offenders of anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents, from both before and during the pandemic, have been white, contrary to many of the images circulating online.
So if you see a news story about an Asian-American getting beaten up in the street, and the attacker is black, just be aware that it doesn’t count and you’re a racist for thinking it does. Crimes are only bad when white people do them.
You’re probably white yourself, aren’t you? Well, there ya go, that explains it. Way to go, cracker. Good job oppressing BIPOC people, or whatever we’re supposed to call them this week.
I never thought I’d see the day, but it looks like the libs are actually starting to sour on Jon Stewart.
On Monday night, the former host of The Daily Show went on late-night TV and expressed his views on the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the global pandemic that supposedly originated just a few blocks away from it. Stewart shocked his old colleague Stephen Colbert and the newly reassembled Late Show studio audience by applying rudimentary logic to the problem, coming to the same conclusion the rest of us made over a year ago: It simply cannot be a coincidence that there’s a virus lab right where the virus broke out, and calling us insane for rejecting the Chinese Communist Party’s amateurish propaganda won’t shut us up.
The audience's reaction to Stewart’s funny-but-serious tirade was notable. They were baffled. “Yay, it’s that guy I really like… but wait, he’s saying the wrongthink!” You could almost hear the cognitive dissonance spreading through the crowd like the virus Stewart was worried they were giving him.
Now Paul Waldman at WaPo is warning his fellow libs: “Don’t rely on celebrities for COVID-19 theories.” Well, that’s new, isn’t it? For 15 months, all I heard were celebrities telling me their theories about COVID-19. It was fine when they were scaring the hell out of everybody who wanted to go to the grocery store or take their kids to the zoo or just walk around the block. Back then it was very, very important to rely on the wisdom of celebrities. But now Jon Stewart is actually making sense about something important, and his old comrades are getting nervous.
And according to “vaccine expert” Dr. Peter Hotez, Stewart’s rant “causes a lot of damage because a number of scientists who work on coronaviruses, including myself, feel that we’re under attack right now.” Uh, you know what else causes a lot of damage? A virus that has killed at least three million people! And that’s just in the countries that we know are telling the truth. You can’t blame that on Jon Stewart, and you’re not the victims here.
I hope Stewart is ready for his #cancellation. He’s about to learn just how cruel his own fans can be. It’s no fun when they grab their torches and pitchforks, as anybody who’s been a subject of The Daily Show’s deceptively edited interviews can tell you.
Over at NRO, Peter Spiliakos sums up the position Colbert has put himself in, having to distance himself from Stewart:
The message is simple: It doesn’t matter if the stuff you are saying is funny. It doesn’t even matter if the stuff you are saying is true. What matters is you are putting me and my show on the wrong side and that’s a problem.
That’s because Colbert is terrified of his Very Online fanbase…
The Very Online Left is a minority of the country and probably even a minority of Colbert’s own audience, but its overrepresentation in media circles that live on Twitter means they can threaten to make serious trouble for Colbert.
Colbert doesn’t want the torches and pitchforks coming after him, so now he’s at odds with his old boss and friend. He’s got the money and fame he always wanted, and that’s the price. He’s beholden to the mob.
Hang in there, Jon Stewart. Hey, let me know if you need help coming up with a name for your Newsmax show.
And now, our bottom story of the day: Hillary “Reset Button” Clinton is babbling about Russia for some reason.
Trump fans don’t like me because I don’t like Trump, but at least he kept that mess out of the White House. Gotta give him props for that.
Corrections
My apologies to author Elin Hilderbrand for misspelling her name in yesterday’s newsletter. I caught the first misspelling (“Hildebrand”) at about 11:59:55 AM, but I missed the second one because the newsletter auto-published at noon on the dot. A deadline is a deadline, and I’m training myself to stick to it every day.2 But it was a sloppy mistake and I regret the error.
Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed it, please click the subscribe button. If you liked it but not enough to pay for it, you can always try out the free plan, and maybe later you’ll change your mind. I hope you do, because otherwise I can’t make a living by writing this for you every day. I’m not selling ads, I’m not mining people for data, and my only angel investor is you.
And please tell everybody you know that I’m doing this newsletter, because apparently a lot of people thought I quit writing. I haven’t. I’m still here.
Also, that Quibi update of Most Dangerous Game is surprisingly entertaining. But then, I’ll watch Christoph Waltz in just about anything. Only heaven knows why Jeffrey Katzenberg thought we were going to watch any of those shows on our phones, even before the pandemic, but all that leftover Quibi content isn’t bad for free TV.
I’m not exactly sure why I’ve decided to put out this newsletter at noon every day. Just arbitrary, I guess. Another momentary whim that calcifies into ritual. But I need a deadline every 24 hours or I’ll never get anything done. It forces me to treat this newsletter like it’s my job, which is what I want it to be. With your help!
