Banning Russian Oil Is Biden's Least Worst Option
Once again, he's left himself with no good way out
It looks like Joe Biden might have finally made a good decision for the first time in his presidency, if not his life. Or at least it’s not a terrible decision…
This feels like the right thing to do, choking out a tyrant who’s bombing civilians. But it’s going to mean even higher gas prices, unless the Democrats get over their aversion to domestic oil production.
Here’s their answer to that:
Right. Zero emissions. Maybe that’s possible if every single person in the United States commits suicide tomorrow. Barring that, we need energy of some sort. Right now. Even in “our most vulnerable communities.”
Now Biden is caught in yet another trap of his own making. He can’t keep buying Russian oil because those goddamn Russkies, who he once assured us were no longer a threat because “This is not 1956”, are now committing well-documented war crimes daily. But he can’t free up American oil production without pissing off his base. And he doesn’t have a magic wand that will get rid of all our dirty, shameful emissions overnight. So now gas prices will soar even higher, Americans will get even angrier, and once again Biden will bumble around and blame everybody else for the problem he’s made for himself.
Who does Joe fear more: Vladimir Putin or Greta Thunberg?
Well, at least he’s got pampered @$$holes like this clown in his corner:
