I have a lot of Polish friends who joke about their Polishness, and take Polish jokes in stride. And a very good friend who passed recently was of Norwegian descent and loved to make jokes about Swedes. Of course, he was about 6'7" and 300 pounds of muscle and looked like Paul Bunyan when Bunyan was a kid, so he got away with it. Actually, he was a genial and kind soul that everyone liked, but few knew about his 2 years in-country with the 1st Air Battalion during the worst fighting in Vietnam.
Anyway, some of the actually toughest and bravest folk are quiet and unassuming. Too many of the anti-ICE bunch are cosplaying for the thrill of breaking the law, and getting away with it. And the AWFULs are the worst. They flaunt the privilege they claim they don't deserve by being A-holes, loudly, in public.
My family is largely Scots-Irish. Descendants of Orange men who married Irish women and split for the colonies. We make fun of both sides.
I used to hang out in a few Boston area Irish pubs pretty regularly and the Irish staffers at those places were constantly being deported for overstaying their visas. It was a regular thing. And it even happened on Obama's watch. Gasp!
Disconfirmed Expectancy is why the left will not see the contradiction of their stances. No matter how often they are proven to be incorrect, it just cant be seen because...reasons. There is always an excuse that makes some sort of crazy sense to them and it keeps them all going. After all, I'm sure its just 1 white guy, there are way more brown and black peopele being abused. Ugh.
And I'm as Irish as they come too. Whole town in Ireland with my family name. Who knew? I'm a Mick through and through lol. Or what is the feminine form of that?
It never ceases to amaze me how vapid these protesters are, LARPing at being "civil rights activists". They're all very sad that they missed the 60's, so the best they can do now is make a minecraft server to pretend they can walk alongside Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela (https://minecraft.wiki/w/Lessons_in_Good_Trouble) - or interfere with law enforcement. It astonishes me that these people don't do something useful, like try and adopt troubled youth or volunteer at shelters, or donate their time and energy somewhere productive. Just like all those stupid "Stop Oil" jerks that throw soup at paintings instead of picking up plastic trash on the side of the highway. One is fun and attention getting, the other is hard, thankless, and necessary so it's easy to see why people pick the former and not the latter. Anyways tl:dr, I hate modern Western protesters.
