The new Sora 2 A.I. lets you create 10-second videos of whatever you can think up, and a lot of my ideas involve newscasters. Since I work in the news business — sorta? — I get to make fun of it. So I’ve started my own news channel.
JTN: When News Breaks, We Leave It That Way
Again, none of the people you’re about to see actually exist. Nobody ever said or did any of this stuff. It’s 100% digital.
I wrote most of the dialogue and scenarios, with a few “ad libs” from the machine…
Clearly, the bot isn’t perfect. Sometimes the timing is slightly off. One “actor” will say a line intended for the other “actor.” The A.I. will add dialogue that doesn’t really make sense. “People” randomly sprout extra fingers. Etc., etc. But you get the idea. Sometimes the flubs just make it funnier.
What really bakes my noodle is how it emulates various film formats. I told the bot to make that last one a kinescope, and it’s perfect.
A lot of people don’t think we should be messing around with this A.I. stuff, but it seems inevitable. I’m just trying to stay afloat, so I need to understand how this crap works. Plus it amuses me, and possibly you too.
Hope you’re doing well. The past 30 days have been really bad, so I’ve been trying to keep busy. The podcast is improving, I think, but I’m always open to suggestions. Not that I’m gonna do ‘em all, but I’ll listen.
Most of my posts lately have been free, because I’ve been getting the podcast off the ground and I want people to listen. Sometime in the next week or two, I’ll put up the paywall again. I’m just kinda playing this by ear, as always.
