Is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez running for president in 2024? If not, why not?
She certainly won’t get caught endorsing the current leader of her party:
Dana Bash: Before we go, I just want to ask about President Biden. He is saying he’s going to run again in 2024. Will you support him?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: You know, if the president chooses, uh, to run again in 2024, I mean, first of all, I’m focused on winning this majority right now, uh, and preserving a majority this year in 2022, so we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, but, um, but I think if, if the president has a vision and that’s something certainly we’re all willing to entertain and examine when this, when the time comes.
DB: That’s not a yes.
AOC: [PAUSE] Yeah, you know, I think, uh, we should endorse when we get to it. But I s-, I believe that the president has been doing a very good job, uh, so far, and, um, y’know, should he run again, I think that I, y’know, I think it’s, it’s… we’ll take a look at it. Ha ha!
I’m not sure which part I enjoy more, AOC’s panicked babbling or Bash’s scolding tone. The purpose of journalism, after all, is to keep Democrats on track. They must all follow the leader, right up until the millisecond they turn on him.
Part of me is cheering for AOC to vie for the top spot in 2024, because I’m sure she’d lose. But then I remember…
